About the job:

We are looking for a talented 2nd Line Support Engineer to provide comprehensive ICT support to all end users at Cambridgeshire County Council, via telephone, emails and face to face. You will be providing guidance and ensure escalations are processed in a timely, detailed manor in line with the council’s processes.

  • Knowledge of systems including data security, protecting data through backup, configuring and using antivirus technologies; Windows desktop firewall.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • In-depth understanding of various data encryption packages including the configuration, installation and ongoing support. Good awareness of the tools available within encryption software for rescuing data.
  • In-depth knowledge of the tools available to carry out diagnosis of networking problems and complete the installations.
  • Experience with various technologies including Windows (7+ 10 ideally), Microsoft Office/365
  • Able to configure server operating systems for example for printers, creating and administering users, DNS DHCP and other server-based roles
  • Managing a high volume of support tickets over a large number of sites keeping customer informed and providing excellent customer service.
  • Previous experience and knowledge of installing, configuring and supporting systems such as Capita SIMS
  • Prioritising own workload to meet customer needs and maintain SLA.
  • Able to install and support software in an automated enterprise environment i.e. delivering software through Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Holiday entitlement of up to 31 days per annum, pro rata (including bank holidays).
