About the job:

We have an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Practitioner to join Northamptonshire County Council’s Support and Safeguarding Team for a locum assignment.

You will be an integral part of the team responsible for community-based social work services with children, young people and families who are subject to child protection plans, child-in-need plans and care proceedings.

  • Contribute to the management of the team and assist the Team Manager
  • Hold a small complex caseload, including court work
  • Act as a high-level practice consultant to social workers within the team and external professionals
  • Coach and mentor social work staff within the team to ensure their work meets professional standards.
  • Act as a Practice Educator to social work students on practice placements in the team, supporting with onboarding and induction and offer mentoring, work-shadowing/work experience opportunities
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency context, to develop strong and effective working partnerships with other agencies and services involved with young people and families
  • Chair a range of meetings appropriate to the role
  • Previous experience in a Senior Social Worker/ Consultant Social Worker/ Advanced Practitioner position
  • Highly developed knowledge and experience of Children safeguarding and collaborative work with families
  • Experience supervising a team and providing expert advice
  • Experience coaching, mentoring and developing skills of others
  • Significant experience of complex social work with families and of effective challenge and conflict resolution
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Social worker qualification at degree level or equivalent
  • HCPC registration
  • Practice Educator or Social Studies Post Qualification
  • Current enhanced DBS certificate valid to work with children or willingness to complete
  • *£400 ‘Golden Hello’ payment for new social workers
  • *’Refer a Friend’ bonus – receive £250 for every qualified social worker that you refer who we successfully place
  • Holiday entitlement of up to 31 days per annum, pro rata (including bank holidays)
  • 3% pension contribution from employer
  • Mileage – 45p per mile
  • *£150 per week accommodation allowance (60+ miles travel) for certain roles
