About the job:

*This is a shared post working on behalf of both Cambridgeshire County Council & Peterborough City Council*

As part of our innovative programme of work to identify and realise opportunities to share and integrate education services across Cambridgeshire County Council & Peterborough City Council, we are now looking to appoint a shared Assistant Director for SEND & Inclusion, to lead the range of services delivered across both authorities to support our most vulnerable children.

For this brand new role, we’re looking for an innovative leader with an outstanding record in delivering support services to vulnerable children with SEND, or other additional learning, social, medical or mental health needs, to ensure they achieve the best possible educational and life outcomes. Reporting to the Director for Education, you will work in the interests of both authorities to ensure we fulfil all of our statutory responsibilities whilst engaging effectively with children, families and our partners to design services that effectively meet their needs.

You will have relevant and extensive experience of leading on SEND in a school or Local Authority senior leadership role. You will be able to provide strategic system leadership for SEND & Inclusion issues across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, working collaboratively with internal and external partners to deliver the best possible services to children and young people in the area.

You’ll have high levels of political awareness and sensitivity, to allow you to shape and lead services in the interests of two local authorities and make a success of our ongoing shared services programme, which will deliver better, more sustainable education services that will ultimately improve educational outcomes for the children of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
