Business Support Finance Assistant

We are seeking a temporary Business Support finance Assistant to provide support and resolve internal and external financial queries, providing the highest level customer service.

This is a part time role for 20 hours per week.

  • Contribute to the team’s development by providing support to ensure that priorities and objectives are achieved, including contributing towards the overall level of performance and morale.
  • Resolve financial queries both internally and externally within the Service Level Agreement providing the highest level customer service.
  • Review and challenge contract summary information to enable the submission of work requisitions for planned maintenance / compliance / project work to generate orders to suppliers, contractors and consultants.
  • Provide advice in liaison with other finance colleagues to non-finance managers and staff to improve their financial awareness
  • Maintain allocated supplier accounts (review and challenge open orders, receipt orders, process invoices, reconciliation of statements, resolve queries and completing journals) to enable the Council to meet it’s contract terms in relation to payment.
  • Provide a detailed working knowledge and overview of the existing systems and business processes to enable the Business Officer Finance / Business Manager Finance to develop them to ensure high quality and accurate financial / project information reporting.
  • Support other members of Estates & Facilities to maintain financial control of the Estates/PFI function to ensure effective budget management.
  • Provide excellent working relationships with Service Group users and our external suppliers / partners and other stakeholders to maximise customer service levels.
  • To demonstrate awareness/understanding of equal opportunities and other people’s behavioural, physical, social and welfare needs.
  • Proven experience of working in a financial environment
  • Knowledge of financial systems
  • Intermediate level knowledge of MS Excel
  • Knowledge of IT systems and databases
  • Knowledge of construction processes and procurement
  • Basic knowledge of MS Word
  •  Knowledge of ERP Gold and Tribal K2.
  • Experience of reconciliation and basic analysis work
  • Experience of providing advice
  • Experience of basic financial planning, budget control and reporting
