About the job:

Opus LGSS are looking for support workers who like working with children.

We have three children’s homes across Cambridge that offer respite care to young people who have learning disabilities, and may also have physical and/or complex health or behavioural needs in a comfortable and safe environment.

The homes are very comfortable, and the young people who attend really enjoy their time there.  There are lots of different rooms, such as music rooms, sensory rooms as well as the usual kitchens, lounges, dining rooms and gardens.  All areas are large enough for any specialist equipment that is needed.

 

Opus LGSS, on behalf of Cambridgeshire County Council are looking to recruit temporary support workers/care assistants working through Opus LGSS, you will offer support to children and young people. You will be supporting them to maximise their sense of well being and independence through tailored, ongoing care and support.

The ideal candidate will be compassionate, enthusiastic and kind, and will always enjoy going the extra mile to accommodate the needs of every individual.

This is a key role demanding an excellent standard of care and an awareness of the special requirements associated with younger people, children and behavioural needs; considering the diverse cultural needs are also an essential element of the role.

We provide a home from home setting for between four and eight young people who have learning disabilities who may also have physical and/or complex health or behavioural needs in a comfortable and safe environment.

Six months experience required; training and DBS checks will be provided.

  • To provide a personal care and support service, delivered in accordance with the agreed care plan and the appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Ensure clear, concise and accurate records are kept of all care and support provided.
  • Always being aware of health and safety and following the risk assessments to ensure the children, young people and carers safety are met and report any concerns to manager, team leaders and night seniors.
  • Other duties to be undertaken include may include tasks such as one to one care, medication administration as per GP’s instructions and after the appropriate training.
  • To ensure safeguarding concerns are identified and reported to management team.
