About the job:

We are looking for a dedicated and highly professional Claims Handler to join a high performing team in LGSS. You will be part of a high quality claims management service, undertaking full and thorough investigations on liability claims including injury losses, material damage and motor claims.  The post holder will be expected to liaise and communicate effectively with Councils and any partners or customers of LGSS.

This role is based at Shire Hall, Cambridge, however will involve travel to Milton Keynes, Northampton and Norwich. You will need to travel between multiple sites as and when expected, so flexibility of working patterns is essential.

  • Certificate in Insurance (CertCll) or equivalent.
  • Proven track record and understanding of claims management principles and practices, including claims management, investigation, evidence collation and interpretation, quantum assessment and claims settlement.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of legislation such as Highways Act and Education Act. Understanding of court processes and Civil Procedure Rules and tort of negligence.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills – with the ability to remain. professional and show empathy to the customer in challenging situations whilst protects the Council’s position.
  • The ability to interpret data, identify areas of further investigation, seek information and evidence.
  • Must work well as individually and as part of a team with minimum guidance and supervision.
