Opus are regularly looking for experienced Occupational Therapist to work in a variety of locations in Milton Keynes.

The aim is to maximise customers’ independence by meeting their needs as quickly as possible, whether they are straight-forward, complex or enduring. There will be opportunities for staff to develop their career through the acquisition of new competencies or specialist skills.

The role involves visiting eligible individuals in their homes to assess their current level of functional ability and to make recommendations to maintain/improve independence and quality of life. The successful candidate will need to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with all members of the multidisciplinary team and other services within Milton Keynes Council, as well as outside agencies to achieve successful outcomes for the resident.

  • Work with staff to support vulnerable adults and carers, helping them to achieve control over their lives, building relationships and networks that maintain their independence.
  • Conduct assessments and monitor and review support plans and interventions, in line with statutory time scales, to maximise independence and enhance the wellbeing of service users.
  • Maintain comprehensive case records on the designated system that demonstrate good practice and follows departmental procedures
  • Support colleagues in other teams when pressures of work require.
  • Work alongside other agencies and services to ensure excellent outcomes for service users and carers.
  • Keep up to date with policy and legislation and developments in professional practice using reflection and other techniques and development tools to continually improve professional practice.
  • To work in accordance with policies and guidelines as determined by Milton Keynes Council Adult Social Care service area.
  • Supervise and provide guidance and support to less experienced Occupational Therapists.
  • Identifying adults at risk and completing safeguarding enquiries to a high standard.
  • BSC or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC registered
  • Proven ability to relate professionally with vulnerable adults, carers and their families evidenced through previous experience of 6 months or more as an Occupational Therapist
  • Demonstrate/evidence of continuing professional development
  • Disclosure and Barring service checked
  • Knowledge of main issues in relation to own client group
  • Able to travel to meet service delivery requirements
  • Available to undertake work outside of normal working hours
  • Must be self- motivating and able to work on own in complex environment.
  • Takes responsibility for quality and completion of own work within required standards
