About the job:

The role of the Blue Badge Independent Mobility Assessor is to carry out independent mobility assessments for applicants for Blue Badges who do not automatically fulfill the qualifying criteria but who may be eligible subject to further assessment.

  • Determine an individual’s eligibility for a Blue Badge by undertaking desk- based and independent mobility assessments
  • Resolve to conclusion telephone, face-to-face and written enquiries from customers, other MKSP departments, external agencies and the council
  • Keep up to date with the Blue Badge reforms and make appropriate recommendations to the Administration Team Leader
  • Maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of relevant local and national developments pertaining to the Blue Badge Scheme
  • Be proactive in joining Blue Badge networks and sharing good practice
  • As appropriate to be involved in appeals against Blue Badge refusals
  • To maintain records and write reports in accordance with the Service’s policies and procedures
  • To undertake training as appropriate
  • Work within the Professional Code of Conduct of Occupational Therapists
  • To undertake activities to support CPD and requirements of the HPC
  • To maintain effective working relationships with internal and external providers
  • To be a committed team worker and participate in working towards targets and monitoring and evaluating the work
  • To maintain records of assessment appropriately in accordance with MKC policies
  • To deal with concerns or complaints as required
  • Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Registered Occupational Therapist
  • Registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC)
  • Holiday entitlement of up to 31 days per annum, pro
    rata (including bank holidays).
