About the job:

Northampton County Council Fostering and Adoption Service are seeking a locum Social Worker to join their Fostering Recruitment Team in Northamptonshire. You will work with a specialist team of Social Workers and Practitioners to deliver a high-quality service to Northampton Foster carers. The Fostering Recruitment Team supervises and supports foster carers ensuring the needs of Children in Care are promoted effectively through their foster carer. You will be allocated cases and will facilitate support groups and learning opportunities for these carers.  You will be part of well-established and supportive team. This post is in fostering recruitment so it is essential to have experience of assessments.

  • Be responsible for providing statutry supervision to a small case load of foster carers,
  • Support foster carers to take full responsibility for their ongoing professional development,
  • Participate within a small therapeutic team,
  • Work directly with children, young people and families using the Suffolk Signs of Safety and Well-being framework.
  • Where required by the role, to act as Lead Professional for named families, being the key contact with the family and liaising with other professionals to provide a joined up response.
  • You will possess highly developed knowledge and experience of Social Work Practice in Children’s Services,
  • You will have specialist experience of child in care work including supporting foster carers,
  • Have experience of collaborative work with families,
  • You will be highly self-reflective and able to work within a therapeutic framework,
  • Ability to recognize and act on Child Protection and risk issues and escalate as appropriate
  • Enthusiasm and highly developed communication skills,
  • The ability to be organised and meet deadlines,
  • Commitment to listening to children and families and to working collaboratively with them to address concerns.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years post-qualifying experience in children’s services,
  • Social Worker qualification at degree level or equivalent,
  • Evidence of continued professional development,
  • HCPC registration,
  • Current enhanced DBS certificate valid to work with children
  • £400 ‘Golden Hello’ payment for new social workers (subject to terms and conditions)
  • Holiday entitlement of up to 31 days per annum, pro rata (including bank holidays)
  • 3% pension contribution from employer
  • Mileage – 45p per mile
