About the job:

We are seeking a number fully experienced Qualified Social Workers to deliver social work services to young people and families to ensure the welfare of children and young people is safeguarded and they are protected in accordance with the legal and statutory obligations of Northamptonshire County Council.

We have roles in various locations across Northamptonshire, including; Kettering, Wellingborough, Northampton, Daventry and Corby.

  • Cover a designated area of work within the Children and Young People’s Service to provide support to families in need using a range of services,
  • Carry out assessments and formulate support plans to support children and families,
  • Communicate effectively to allow you to form highly effective working relationships with your team, other professionals and our service users & families,
  • Manage cases,
  • Work directly with family member providing advice and guidance,
  • Empower service users,
  • Attend and participate in multidisciplinary teams and meetings,
  • Give written/ verbal evidence in court/adoption/fostering panels when required to do so.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
  • You will possess highly developed knowledge and experience of Social Work Practice in Children’s Services
  • Knowledge of current legislation relating to the role,
  • 2 years’ experience within the team that you apply for,
  • A commitment to representing our Northamptonshire Children’s Service where you will find creative solutions to challenging situations,
  • Satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service clearance.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years post-qualifying experience in children’s services
  • Social worker qualification at degree level or equivalent
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • HCPC registration
  • £400 ‘Golden Hello’ payment for new social workers (subject to terms and conditions)
  • Holiday entitlement of up to 31 days per annum, pro rata (including bank holidays)
  • 3% pension contribution from employer
  • Mileage – 45p per mile
