About the job:

We are looking for a Junior Developer to work as part of the Development Team in Northamptonshire County Council, responsible for the building, developing, implementing and maintenance of a range of database applications and web technologies; to meet business needs and improve patient care across the local community.

  • Draft project briefs and scoping documents in relation to Health & Care developments e.g. new applications – ensuring that the documents are written in plain English and are understandable to a non-technical audience
  •  Provide technical advice and support regarding the development of web enabled technologies
  •  Monitor key strategic database to ensure that they are functioning correctly and take remedial actions as required.
  •  Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of health & care related applications and databases; including shrinking of log files, providing second line support, troubleshooting issues.
  • Provide development support for a range of technologies utilised within the Team. Responsible for the maintenance of those systems including configuration, ensuring lookup lists are relevant, ensuring system dependencies are maintained.
  • Assess customer requirements. As part of a project team recommend technical solutions. Test and implement solutions as part of a project team
  • Create and maintain SSIS, SSRS and build SQL functions and processes in relation to NHFT’s Management Information System. Ensure that the system is operating effectively and efficiently
  •  Support the objectives and goals of the Health & Care Project Office by ensuring that project methodology is followed and being an active member of team (suggesting new ideas and offering constructive criticism)
  • Offer technical solutions based on knowledge and experience
  • Knowledge of industry standard applications such as SQL, COM, ASP, JavaScript, VB Script, XML, XSL and HTML
  • Knowledge of internet server technology such as Microsoft IIS, SSRS, SSIS technologies
  • Knowledge of Relational database such as SQL Srv
  • Both oral and written. Ability to communicate complex subjects to non-technical colleagues.
  • Ability to interpret and analyse complex data
  • Ability to work within agreed parameters and demonstrate prioritisation skills.
  •  Ability to manage multiple workstreams.
  •  Educated to diploma level or equivalent knowledge or competencies.
  •  RSA III or equivalent level of competency (advanced keyboard use)
  •  Experience in database development (SQL Server development, SSRS, SQL coding, SSIS)
  • Experience using Microsoft packages
  • Holiday entitlement of up to 31 days per annum, pro rata (including bank holidays).
  •  Permanent equivalent council pay rates offered after 12 weeks
